Notes so Far.....

I have created a handmade stitched book for the integrated project. I wasn’t sure which project to put the book into as it fits in with both the project briefings I set myself. It was fun to use all the different textures of materials to explore and how to create interest and different ideas through using the different materials which is what this project is all about. I was going to create a book for this project too but I feel this is too similar to the other project. I might explore the use of scale to create impact on an audience. This could be something like a large scale book about big problems to emphasize to the audience how important it is as a topic. I would have to use resources like screen-printing to complete this which might be something would hold me back from completing it. Maybe I will look into creating a large scale experience with video and photography combined and collaged with textures.

I saw an exhibition in my local place, The De la War, by Zineb Sedira and it was a dark room that made you focus on the videos that were playing and there were separate monitors to listen to audio and visuals to experience the environment differently. I took my boyfriend with me as he doesn’t go to galleries so it was interesting to see what his perspective on the work was. He said he felt small and intimated by the visuals being projected on the wall but he said it was interesting how his shadow would take over and impact the work like he could take back control (which was a very interesting thing for someone non arty to say and realize).

My aims are to create a visual piece of work that is controversial and makes people think whilst using texture.
